Restoration of  The Church Tower

The Appeal

Eastnor village is seeking help to raise up to £100,000 during 2018 and 2019 for a project to repair  its ancient and beautiful church and to improve its facilities to allow wider use.  The church is a grade 1 listed Place of Worship and on the Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register (no.1266756).

The Church has an important heritage, dating from 13th Century, with significant refurbishment carried out in the mid-19th century by Sir George Gilbert Scott RA.

The Church plays an important role at the centre of the village for regular worship and is used daily by the village school and weekly for bellringing practice.  It is situated within The Malvern Hills Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and enjoyed by visitors to Eastnor Castle and Deer Park.

Project Scope

Urgent repair of the tower, the oldest part of the Church.  Improved access to the church and addition of catering facilities and a WC are also proposed to enable use for a broader range of activities by the local community and visitors. Virtual access to the upper levels of the tower will be provided by a video, which will also briefly introduce the church and tell its story.

Project Funding

To date Eastnor residents have raised £20,000  and aim to raise further funds from a range of events planned during 2018 and 2019.

Grant applications to help towards the project costs are being prepared for submission to The Heritage Lottery Fund and The National Churches Trust.

The Church Tower Appeal Committee is seeking donations from charities and individuals towards the cost of the project.
